Background of the Program
The existence of COVID pandemic has triggered the changes of people’s daily life from offline-based to online-based activities including the preservation and promotion programs towards socio-cultural treasures of a country, especially Indonesia. Due to the pandemic, these programs have been significantly impacted through huge reduction of physical social and cultural activities in the community, which then leads to the national economic problems.
To this end, digital transformation has emerged as one of the most prospective solutions to deal with the above issues. In particular, the digital transformation can bring innovation, creativity, and positive disruption through digitalization on existing conventional methods of various fields including government, mass communication, economy, culture, and knowledge. This digital technology process is very interesting to be thoroughly discussed with the aim to explore its significant contribution on preservation, promotion, and creativity process efforts of socio-cultural treasures through using the cutting-edge digital technologies. For example, through digital transformation, we can effectively develop social distancing technologies, metaverse technology for virtual social activities, digital economy platforms, i.e., e-commerces, digital heritage preservation, and also virtual socio-cultural promotion through virtual/augmented reality applications.
The 3rd GREAT International Summer Course 2022 with academic credit for university students will present digital transformation experts in various fields including social, cultural, and economic developments. In addition to online lectures, participants will also be invited to take part in virtual tours of industrial sites and cultural villages which use digital technologies to run them. The program is intended for participants to explore the development of digital transformation in Indonesia and globally that can be further utilized to improve the future community’s daily life. At the end of the program, the participants will be asked to initiate creative ideas that are beneficial to the community’s online activity development in the aftermath of COVID pandemic.
This summer course program also includes interactive collaborative learning among participants from different countries through learning journey as well as show-and-tell programs. This aims to find out various values behind the existence and development of digital transformation and internet revolution in their respective countries. To get more comprehensive knowledge, several online workshops led by practitioners related to digital transformation on socio-cultural treasures will also provide a unique experience for the participants.
Goals of the Program
The 3rd GREAT International Summer Course 2022 invites participants to explore knowledge about how digital transformation and internet revolution support and affect our socio-cultural life by developing various digital technology and creativity processes.
